10 lipsticks for loud mouths

Even lipstick refuseniks should consider colour this spring. The season’s playful shades make a case for being bold. Orange lips are especially popular among the latest launches, from radioactive “Martian Dust” in Byredo’s new Liquid Lipstick Matte collection to the hint of melon in Fenty Beauty’s hydrating lip oil. Hermès pairs a neon matte lipstick with a matching orange nail polish for its limited-edition SS24 collection. Equally zesty are tangerine shades by Gucci, Prada and Jones Road.

Those looking for something at the redder end of the spectrum should try Westman Atelier’s Bright Tomato, part of a new range of super-saturated mattes. Make-up artist Isamaya Ffrench’s latest launch is a burnt-gold metallic balm, her attempt to create an “everyday staple with a twist”. Layer it with a coat of Ffrench’s Rust lip serum, for extra orange power. Lastly, a multitasker: 19/99’s brick-coloured Precision Pencil can be used on the lips, eyes – or, should you wish, anywhere around the face.
