There’s nothing quite as cosy-looking as a Coen Brothers movie, and this is no exception. Snuggle down while their trademark Farrow & Ball colour scheme and Instagram-style filters transport you to the smoke-filled Beat scene of Greenwich Village. It is 1961, and bearded, brooding folk singer Llewyn Davis (Oscar Isaac) is sofa-surfing, sponging off his mates, and becoming disillusioned with the creative life. A pregnant ex-girlfriend (Carey Mulligan, born to play a Beatnik), her angel-voiced boyfriend (Justin Timberlake) and a missing ginger cat further complicate matters. A hypnotic, melancholy triumph.
