Lord Myners is to take on another non-executive role in the City, as the former City minister seeks to rebuild a portfolio of corporate directorships, reports the FT. Autonomous, the independent research house set up by former Merrill Lynch banks analyst Stuart Graham, will this week name Lord Myners as a partner and chairman. His appointment comes amid speculation that he may be set to chair Justice, a cash shell being set up by billionaire investor Nicolas Berggruen (separately reported in this 6am Cut). Lord Myners, a former investment manager, said he would put some of his own funds into Autonomous. It is the second City directorship he has accepted since Labour was voted out of power last May. He recently joined the board of RIT Capital, the Lord Jacob Rothschild investment vehicle. Lord Myners, best known for running fund manager Gartmore in the 1980s and 1990s, said the Autonomous role was a “natural progression” from his earlier roles.
