Paloma Faith’s third album fronts up with its biggest coup, “Can’t Rely On You” featuring man-of-the-moment Pharrell Williams, whose production places the retro-soul singer in an unusually lithe, stripped back setting.
But it’s a red herring, because then we’re back with the usual trad stuff – old-fashioned supper-club soul, all perfectly serviceable, sung more than competently by Faith, but too much alike countless other songs to stake a lasting claim on our attention.
