Warwick Business School in the UK has signed a £5m agreement with IBM Europe, Middle East and Africa to offer its MBA via e-learning over the next three years.

The programme will combine web-based distance learning, with bespoke print materials, face-to-face workshops and an individual tutor network.

The first IBM cohort will begin the programme in November. Two intakes a year are planned – spring and autumn – with 150 participants a year. The average duration of the programme will be three years.

Warwick Business School is experienced in distance learning and dean Howard Thomas believes this helped the school secure the IBM deal.

“I am sure that our experience in providing tailored courses, our long experience in delivering distance learning programmes, our flexibility and our ability to incorporate the most current web-based techniques contributed to our success in achieving this contract,” he says.

This year Warwick celebrates the 20th anniversary of its distance learning MBA programme.
