Anastasia Stognei joined the FT as a correspondent covering Russia in 2022. Her reporting is focused on the economic aftermath of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, ranging from the energy sector to sanctions evasion and Russian living standards.
A native of Voronezh who graduated in journalism from Moscow State University and received an MSc in finance and financial law from London’s SOAS, Anastasia was previously a reporter for the BBC and leading Russian media outlets.
She also served as an associate producer for HBO’s Emmy-nominated documentary “Agents of Chaos” on US election interference and worked as a contributing consultant for UK corporate intelligence companies.
