Art Miami moves closer to the action of Biscayne Bay this year, swapping the hipster neighbourhood of Wynwood for a waterfront location that has room for Context, its sister fair for emerging and mid-career artists, which takes place next door. The longest-running contemporary art fair in Miami, it is now in its 28th year, and showcases work from the 20th and 21st centuries.

The New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA) moves uptown for 2017, where it stages its 15th edition and continues its legacy of supporting new voices in contemporary art. A non-profit arts organisation, it is dedicated to exploring the underexposed and anti-establishment from around the globe.

Pinta

Pinta focuses on Latin American, Spanish and Portuguese art. A new feature of the fair for 2017 is the Pinta Country Sections, a platform for artists and works that represent individual countries. For Argentina, Florencia Battiti presents new work, as does Max Hernández Calvo for Peru.

With 136 exhibitors, this year’s edition is the largest for Untitled, a show which aims to promote curatorial balance across all disciplines of contemporary art.

This year sees the return of Untitled, Radio, an inclusive programme of talks, interviews and roundtable discussions that brings together artists and curators in a live broadcast hosted by Miami-based Wynwood Radio. Radio features for 2017 include sound art, performances, readings and curated playlists.

Founded in 2006, Ink is unique among Miami’s fairs for its focus on contemporary works on paper. Sponsored by the International Fine Print Dealers Association, exhibitors are selected from among its members to offer a diverse survey of 20th-century works and new editions by leading contemporary artists.

Pulse returns to Miami for its 13th year with the aim of creating an international community of established galleries. With over 70 galleries from five continents, highlights include new works by Ethiopian photographer Aida Muluneh and US artist Andrew Schoultz. Earlier this year, the fair launched Pulse360, a year-round programme of events including talks and exhibition tours in Miami, LA, San Francisco and New York.

Founded in 2015, Satellite is an artist-run fair that pulls a young crowd. This year, it is staged in an abandoned beachfront hotel, with 40 rooms repurposed for participatory and immersive installations and exhibits. Expect wearable art objects and live-tattooing.

Scope

Now in its 17th year, Scope is one of Miami’s largest satellite fairs, with 140 international exhibitors representing emerging contemporary artists. Highlights include unaffiliate.us, a collaboration between the network of addiction clinics Column Health and the artist Tom Fruin that addresses the stigmatisation of drug addiction. On display are works from Fruin’s “Quilt” series, which include hand-sewn compositions of drug bags and detritus collected from New York’s streets.
