    Alan Livsey writes for the Lex column, acting as its research editor. Previously he has worked in equities fund management in London responsible for both long-only and absolute-return products, specialising in natural resources and emerging markets.

    Prior to that he worked in Hong Kong and Tokyo as a market strategist on Japanese markets. He is a chartered financial analyst.
